Comments:

I will admit, this was an experiment. Unfortunately, itturn out to be an experiment gone terribly wrong. I saw this wine in my local Publix grocery store and decided to give it a try. If you are comfortable with the typical Merlot and Cabernet flavors, get ready for a shock. This young wine has no benefit of aging and at first sip you are overwhelmed with a strong grape flavor, which slips quickly into a thin tannic finish. If you are a fan of Beaujolis, perhaps you will find some redeaming factors. If you don't like Beajolis, I recommend passing on this wine. It is worth noting that I am a huge fan of J.Lohr's Cabernet and Merlot wines, but not the Valdiguie.

From the Label:

Valdiguie is grown in our vineyards in the cool Arroyo Seco region of central Monterey County. It has aromas of boysenberry, cherry and cranberry with a plump supple and low tannin mouth feel. Wildflower Valdiguie is a very versatile wine complimenting almost all cuisines from holiday fare to Pacific Rim and is best served slightly chilled at (55-60 degrees).

J. Lohr Estates wines are best characterized by their intense flavor and remarkable balance. Jerry Lohr practices the French system of planting each grape variety in its ideal appellation. With over 3,000 acres of vineyards, quality control is insured from selection of optimum rootstock and clones through all facets of artisan winemaking. Each of these steps is focused on one goal...flavor second to none.
